New modules of classes and lectures on the history and culture of medieval Scandinavia available in the winter term of 2015/2016

 With the beginning of the new academic year at the University of Silesia, three new modules of classes and lectures devoted to the history and culture of early medieval Scandinavia will be made available to all interested students. The enrolment via the usos system will be possible from September 30th 2015. The courses are open to all University of Silesia students, regardless of the programme and level of studies.

The class courses offered this term are:

1) Cultural Memory and Njáls saga;
2) Reading Old Norse Literature,

and will be taught by Mr Yoav Tirosh, Ph.D. student from the University of Iceland.

The lecture course entitled "Viking Age and Medieval Scandinavia," scheduled as a sequence of several lectures across the two terms of 2015/2016, will begin with the lectures of Prof. Ásdís Egilsdóttir from the University of Iceland. Further lectures will be given by eminent scholars from Iceland and Norway.

The lectures and classes will be held in English at the Faculty of Social Sciences in Katowice and the Faculty of Philology in Sosnowiec. The students who successfully complete the course will be granted additional ECTS points.
